Enrolment Terms

Last updated 31 August 2026

Please read these before you enrol. They set out what you are paying for, what we commit to, and what happens if either of us needs to stop.

We have tried to write them in plain English rather than legal language. If anything is unclear, ask us before you pay.

1. Who you are contracting with

In these terms, "we" and "us" means Brokerlab. "You" means the person enrolling.

2. What the course is, and what it is not

Brokerlab is an eight week practical training course for people entering the Australian mortgage broking industry. It runs online, one evening a week, with recorded modules and weekly exercises based on anonymised deal files.

Being clear about the limits matters more than being flattering, so:

3. Enrolling

Places are limited and are confirmed in order of payment, not in order of enquiry.

  1. You register your interest, and we have a conversation about whether the course suits you.
  2. If it does, we send you a payment link.
  3. Your place is confirmed when we receive your deposit or your first payment, and we email you a confirmation.

Until that confirmation email arrives, your place is not held.

You must be at least 18 years old to enrol.

4. Fees and payment options

Founding cohort, $990

Standard price, $2,490

The payment plan costs $150 more than paying in full. That difference covers the additional administration, and it is disclosed here rather than buried.

Securing a place

A deposit of $300 secures your place and is credited in full against your course fee. If you pay in full at enrolment, no separate deposit is needed.

How you pay

We accept card and bank direct debit through Stripe. For payment plans, you authorise the future payments when you enrol, and they are taken automatically on the scheduled dates. We will remind you by email before each one.

We do not add a surcharge for paying by card.

GST

We are not currently registered for GST, so the prices above are the total payable and no GST is charged. If we become registered for GST in the future, prices for future cohorts may be adjusted. The price you agreed at enrolment will not change.

5. If a payment fails

Direct debits and card payments sometimes fail for reasons that have nothing to do with you.

If money is genuinely tight, talk to us. We would much rather rearrange your dates than have you drop out.

6. Changing your mind, and refunds

Before the course starts

After the course starts

Transferring to a later cohort

You can move to the next cohort once, at no cost, if you ask us before week 3. We will hold what you have paid and apply it to the new dates. Life happens, and we would rather you finish late than not at all.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days of us agreeing to them.

7. If we cancel or change the course

8. Confidentiality of deal files

This one matters, and we will enforce it.

The course uses anonymised files based on real transactions. Even anonymised, they contain the shape of real people's financial circumstances.

You agree that you will not:

If you breach this, we may remove you from the course without a refund. We take this seriously because our access to real files depends on the brokerages that provide them trusting us.

9. Employer introductions

The pathway is a genuine part of what you are paying for, so here is exactly what it is.

What we do. For graduates who complete the course and submit a capstone deal file, we make introductions to brokerages and aggregator contacts in our network who are hiring, and we prepare you for those conversations.

What we do not do. We do not guarantee a job, an interview, or a particular number of introductions. Hiring decisions belong to the employer. Anyone in this industry promising you a job in exchange for a course fee is telling you what you want to hear.

Your consent, every time. We will not send your details to an employer without asking you first, on each occasion. You can decline any introduction, or ask us to exclude particular firms, and it will not affect your place in the course or your results. This is set out further in our privacy policy.

We are paid by employers. Where a graduate is hired, the employer may pay us a placement fee. You never pay it. We disclose it because you should know it exists.

Introductions are held until your fees are paid in full. If you are on a payment plan and have completed your payments, this does not affect you.

10. Course materials

We license the course materials to you for your own personal use, for as long as you want them. The recordings are yours to keep.

You may not share, sell, republish, or use the materials to run your own training. We are a small business and the material took a long time to build.

11. Your conduct

The cohort works because people are honest about what they do not know. We ask you to be constructive with other students and with guests.

We may remove someone from a cohort for behaviour that is abusive or that seriously disrupts other students' learning. In that situation we will refund the portion of the course not yet delivered, unless the removal is for a breach of section 8.

12. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Among other things, you are entitled to a remedy if the service is not delivered with due care and skill, or is not fit for the purpose we described.

Nothing in these terms limits, excludes or modifies any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where anything in these terms would have that effect, it does not apply.

The refund arrangements in section 6 are in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, not instead of them.

13. Cooling off for unsolicited agreements

If we contacted you first, without you having asked us to, and you agreed to enrol during or as a result of that contact, you have a 10 business day cooling off period starting the first business day after you receive these terms. During that period you can cancel for any reason and receive a full refund, and we will not supply the course or take payment.

This does not apply where you contacted us, registered your interest through our website, or asked us to get in touch.

14. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

15. If something goes wrong

Tell us first, at james@brokerlab.com.au. We will acknowledge it within 5 business days and work with you to sort it out.

If we cannot resolve it between us, you can contact NSW Fair Trading or the ACCC. Nothing in these terms prevents you from doing so at any time.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future cohorts. The terms that apply to you are the ones published on the day you enrol, and we will email you a copy with your confirmation. We will not change the terms of your enrolment after you have paid, except where you agree in writing.

17. General

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, and the courts of New South Wales have jurisdiction.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

These terms, together with the privacy policy and your enrolment confirmation email, are the whole agreement between us.
